I know it's freezing cold pretty much everywhere right now, but I maintain that there is no chill quite like the one you'll find in Minnesota. It's dry and to the bone. The only time I feel warm is during hot yoga and when I'm driving around in my car with the seat heat on full blast. Wearing a hat and fingerless gloves in my kitchen is a necessity.
Honestly, I have no idea what the climate is like in Japan, but I bow down to their innovation. For they created Uniqlo's Heat Tech clothing. My sister, Angie, wore a pair of their long underwear every day during her Christmas visit. I tried to copy her with my own version of base layers, but they just left me feeling fat and uncomfortable.
I sent Angie back to NYC with $20 and my color choices. Now, I'm anxiously awaiting the priority mail package containing the soft warmness that I think might save my life this January. And possibly make me look like her:
